Fellow Softballer:
It has come to the attention of the Clovis
Softball Association’s Board of Directors that there is a flyer being
circulated, questioning the operations of the organization. The flyer going around, asks “where did it
go” referring to estimated funds being taken in and going out.
We have great
financial records of ALL monies spent by the CSA. Following is a small breakdown of those funds
spent in 2007:
Umpires $31,454.50;
Scorekeepers $8,323.00; spring field Improvements $22,315.00; Scorekeepers
booths; chairs and electrical to them $7,914.49; Softballs $6,313.80; Scoreboard
controllers $5,626.00; Team registrations & Ins. $2,940.00; Newspaper ads $709.07;
Awards $7,967.00; Field equipment; $7,239.36; Polaris Maint./Repairs
$767.83; Maintenance, supplies, bathrooms, fields, trash, etc. $19,288.17;
Storage shed $280.00;
Scorekeepers,
Umpires paymaster and director fees $3,129.00; flowers (Guy and Harris) $556.54;
Security $682.50; Rewire Concession/Office & A/C $5,129.32; Printing/Supplies
$1,427.79; Misc. Repairs (including plumbing repairs) $3,610.92; Sand $301.28; Chamber
Membership $110.00; Winter field work (Concrete, Fencing, Drainage) $25,000.00
(all has not been paid to date) plus the 2006 outstanding debt $1,970.10 for a
GRAND TOTAL of expenses over $164,000.00.
These are some of the reasons player fees are
an integral part of the continued success of the CSA, and why the League Directors
continue to collect them as they are needed to keep the organization growing.
In 2007, we have made major improvement to our
fields and have invested many dollars in new equipment. We are going to continue to protect those
investments the best ways we can. As you
can see CSA spends the money diligently for improvements for ALL that
participate in the CSA. I invite all of
you to stop by the fields and look at the winter improvements going on!
2008 League entry fee and player fees will
stay the same as 2007, even though some costs to operate are expected to rise.
I am new at this position with the CSA, but I
took it because I am dedicated to keeping the CSA standards as high as Guy Leeder set them over the last 36 years. The CSA Board of
Directors are the best any organization could ask for,
with all but two of them representing our players and coaches as players or
coaches themselves.
If anyone would like to visit with me
concerning anything with the CSA, please call me at 762-0298 and leave a
message, I will get back to you as soon as possible.
